Grey Ghost Gear Minimalist Plate Carrier
The Grey Ghost Gear Minimalist Plate Carrier is simply the best value if you are looking for a $100 low profile plate carrier that you cant count on. Throughout the years Grey Ghost Gear has been known for making some of the best gear on the market. I have many of their bags and a set of their rifle plates and have never been let down by them. The reason why this plate carrier is important, or any low profile carrier made by a reputable manufacture, is because it hits a need by almost anyone. Home defense, active shooter kit, covert needs, etc. Being able to put two rifle pouches, two pistol pouches and a flashlight make this Grey Ghost Gear Minimalist Plate Carrier my preferred low profile plate carrier. It is lightweight, just enough real estate to load up with what you need and easy to use. So lets get into the specifics of this Grey Ghost Gear Minimalist Plate Carrier.
This is made to carry up to Large SAPI plates or 10x12 hard plates. I run the Grey Ghost Gear Level III plates in mine and it is a very light system that provides me with exactly what I need. Strong bartacs and perfect stitching construct this plate carrier. As with Tactical Tailor plate carriers, this Grey Ghost Gear Minimalist Plate Carrier shares the flat lay should straps which really assists with butt stock placement. Some companies have the shoulder strap stitched into the middle of their carrier's front top, but Grey Ghost Gear and Tactical Tailor both stitched on the back portion. This really assists with getting the butt stock into a positive position on your body. Air Mesh is added to the inside of this plate carrier and it is not a plate carrier that after wearing it all day with overheat you. On the inside of the plate pockets is a LiteLok lining. This adds to the abrasion resistance and being made of LiteLok means it is amazingly lightweight. There are two openings at the top front of the carrier which display the plates. This is a discrete stash pocket for maps and supporting gear. I have yet to have it get in the way or cause any issues when going through dynamic movements and at courses.
The Grey Ghost Gear Minimalist Plate Carrier is secured on the sides by a simple large buckle with a captured tail adjustment Tri-Glide. It is very simple to operate and stays in place. There is some Velcro PALS on the front for super secret operator patches, or you can use it to attach pouches if you are not into such things. They way the plates are held in place is reassuring. I have seen some other companies who secure only with two straps and have an open bottom. But with this Grey Ghost Gear Minimalist Plate Carrier there is a full bottom closure which is much more robust, yet still lightweight! I run mine with two rifle magazines, two pistol and a flashlight. But in need of being covert, just take all the pouches off and run it under a jacket, etc. This is my favorite carrier as it is the most practical for most anyone whether on the battle field and in need of a low profile plate carrier or the concerned citizen.
